Valmiera Business and Innovation Incubator (VBII) has been operating in Valmiera since 2007. Until July 2009 more than 20 incubator companies have received a variety of support services.

Since 2009 incubator services have also been available in other municipalities of former Valmiera district (according to the previous territorial division), as well as in Gulbene and Valka district municipalities.

In May 2009 VBII prepared and submitted the project proposal for the provision of business incubation services in the Northern part of Vidzeme region. 4^th of August VBII signed a contract with the Latvian Investment and Development Agency for funding the incubation activities as per project.

In December 2009 VBII opened its Gulbene unit. The next step in VBII development was summer 2010 when incubator moved into the new building that was constructed with support of Valmiera City municipality and EU funding.
